This is our second experience building with Brickwood Homes, and once again they have exceeded our expectations. A huge thank you to Ray, Geoff, and the entire Brickwood team for delivering another outstanding granny flat. From the initial planning through to construction and handover, the whole process was smooth, professional, and well organised.

I recently had my granny flat designed and constructed by Brickwood Homes, and I’m pleased to give them a 5 star rating for several reasons: 1. Expert handling of approvals: Brickwood successfully arranged CDC approval, even though three other builders told me the project would require a DA. Their construction cost was also competitive compared to others. 2. Timely completion: The entire build was completed within three months. A big thank you to Ray for his exceptional site management and coordination of all trades—everything ran smoothly and on schedule. 3. Professional and friendly team: The office staff, including Amanda, Kavia, and Todd, were always helpful and pleasant to deal with. The directors, Geoff and Jack, were consistently responsive, cooperative, and supportive throughout the process. 4. Quality workmanship: The finished granny flat shows high quality workmanship both inside and out. Outside of Brickwood’s performance, I’d also like to share a general insight for anyone planning a granny flat construction: Be prepared to allocate at least 50% on top of the contracted price for site costs, landscaping, variations, council fees, and other expenses depending on your land’s terrain. It’s important to calculate whether the overall investment aligns with your goals and provides positive value for money.

We had Granny Flat built by Brickwood, Ray and the team delivered a high-Quality Granny Flat which was the design package, have had numerous suppliers come in as want to put a screen door and Plantation shutters and have commented how good the carpentry works is on the flat, all Subcontractors that carried works were helpful, polite and efficient, I kept telling Ray you have good people working for you. Office people Geoff was great, and Amanda was amazing every time I rang to ask or query something she would help me as nothing was too hard for her, I had couple issues before hand over and Ray responded promptly to them. I recently had a granny flat built by Brickwood Homes and overall, I couldn’t be happier with the result. The quality of the finished product is excellent, and I genuinely love the space they’ve created. The whole team was fantastic to deal with — Kavya, Jack, Amanda, Alex, Michael, and Geoff were all switched on, professional, and kept me updated at every stage of the process. Communication was consistent and clear, which made the entire experience smooth and stress-free. A special mention to the foreman, Ray — if you get him on your project, you’re in very safe hands. He is extremely knowledgeable, clearly knows his trade inside out, and takes real pride in his work. At handover, he went above and beyond, pointing out details I wouldn’t have even noticed and making sure everything was in pristine condition. Anything that needed attention was promptly fixed, which I really appreciated. The only downside for me was some unexpected costs around soil removal, and the exterior site clean-up could have been better. That said, these were relatively minor compared to the overall experience and final outcome. All in all, I’m very happy with Brickwood Homes and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to build a granny flat.

We recently had our granny flat built and are extremely grateful to Brickwood Homes for taking on a project that many others claimed was not possible due to the land layout. From the very beginning, they demonstrated confidence and a genuine willingness to find solutions rather than excuses, which was incredibly reassuring. The finishes are solid and of high quality, and the price felt fair considering the scope and outcome. We also truly appreciated how caring and respectful the whole team was throughout the process—special thanks to Jack, Ray and Amanda for your patience with us. There were times when communication could have been clearer, and on a few occasions it felt like the company was managing too many projects at once, which left us uncertain about next steps. However, this was definitely a case of trusting the process, and in the end, the result speaks for itself. Overall, we are very happy with our granny flat and thankful to the team for helping us turn a long-held dream into reality. My in-laws are now enjoying their new home!! Would we recommend them? We recently renovated the back part of our home and we didn't hesitate to call back the Brickwood Homes team to assist us with planning the renovation. Jack Issa led the team and as per our previous experience (see previous review a year ago) Brickwood homes took care of us. Jack listened to our opinion and provided us guidance along the way. The contractors are always respectful and does the job. We are currently enjoying this part of our home thanks to Jack and the Brickwood team. Brickwood Homes constructed a granny flat behind our home and Ray Sabongi was the site Manager. There was never a hard ask for Ray. He listens and responds to requests. He also explains if our requests are not recommended or provides a better option. Overall, we thought Brickwood did a great job. The quality and finishes were as discussed in the contract. The contractors/workers were professional and respectful. Office support from Rick and Shelley at the front-end and Geoff from the office also deserves a mention here. In addition Brickwood did additional renovations on our pool, backyard and surrounds. Jack Issa was the best! Never a hard task and always there when you need him. Our backyard was a jungle and pool was not usable (as it was dated) before Brickwood proposed renovations to be done. So much needed to be done by different contractors and the weather was not always on our side. Jack managed the schedule pretty well. Again all the contractors were professional. Albert Chahda also monitored the renovations and granny flat construction. Overall, we thought Brickwood did a great job and finished the work on time for our mum to move in. We are so happy that we went with Brickwood.
